Ongoing Support

What are couples' intensives?

Intensives can range from three-hour to three-day sessions for couples who need uninterrupted and structured blocks of time to work on their relationship.

I currently offer three-hour or five-hour intensives in a one-day setting held on Fridays in my Schertz location.

This can be beneficial for couples who:

* are not able to attend weekly

   therapy sessions

* who need to address an

   urgent issue

* those who need to get on             track  in an efficient amount of

   time.

* those who only want to spend

   a fixed amount of time and         money on therapy.

What proven methods do I use?

I work from the science of attachment, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Neuro-Linguistic Programming. I tend to get to the heart of the matter quickly, then slow down with direct compassion to help the couple as they move through difficult emotions, ideas, and protective behaviors.

Intensives are structured with the following goals in order of importance:

* de-escalation (if needed)

* identify attachment needs

* identify patterns of engagement

  around these needs

* create and express an understanding

  of these needs through guided

  communication exercises

* practice moves to connect and

  receive each other

What to expect?

01

Paragraph title

The first step is an initial 10 min. consult call so both parties can ask questions and get to know me. (no cost)

02

Paragraph title

If the couple feels this is a good fit, the next step is an hour-and-a-half intake session. This is the time I will assess if the couple is a good fit for an intensive through forms and questions.

I will see each partner individually, and then we will meet together for the last 10 minutes to share what was discovered.  ($300)

03

Paragraph title

Once the couple is determined to be a good fit, I will offer available dates and times to hold the intensive on Fridays at my Schertz location.

I will give assignments to prepare for the upcoming intensive and provide information on how to prepare for the intensive.

Post Intensive and Continuation of Care

The time spent in an intensive is sacred and connecting. As time approaches the end of the session, couples may experience anxiety about how they will take what was learned and experienced, and apply it in their everyday lives.

Some couples may feel ready and excited to begin their journey together with new tools and changed hearts (or nervous systems).

The couple and I will consult at the end of the intensive to determine if a later intensive, a one-time 50-minute follow-up session, or referral for individual therapy is needed.

What measures success?

Success is measured by the initial goals set by the couple.

Success is more likely to occur if each partner can approach therapy from the perspective of "What is my part in how our relationship got to this point?" and work from there. Couples who are unable or unwilling to take accountability or insist on blaming their partner will not experience success in this program.

Couples who have active domestic violence in their relationship are not suitable for couples' intensives. Individual therapy is recommended until the violence stops.

Financial Commitment

Intensive work can be more cost-effective than coming to see me every week or every other week at $200 per session.

Often, because time is on our side, we can sit with the part of each of you that is reluctant to let go or let in. Once that happens, healing and a path forward can begin.

I currently offer two options for couples' intensives:

3 hours (includes snacks and water, and the intake session, if the couple is deemed appropriate) ~ $1000

5 hours (includes meal and water, and the intake session, if the couple is deemed appropriate) ~ $1350
